Are there any businesses out there that want a part-time work at home bookkeeper??

Do these places exist?? Does anyone work from home or have a virtual office as an accountant or bookkeeper?? If so, how did you find these businesses needing a bookkeeper to work from home?

It seems that everyone that advertises wants you to come in the office.

Problems I have with hiring a virtual accountant or bookkeeper.

Logistics - How do I get all my invoices, payroll, reciepts to you? You going to pick them up? How often? What if I dont have time to get everything ready for you on that the normal day? When I get all my paperwork back who will file them?

Sensitive data - Alot of businesses have safeguards inplace to prevent unauthorized people from accessing their data. With a virtual accountant you are not only taking the mose sensitive parts of you business offsite but have very little control over who has access to it, who may see it etc.

Availablity - I need a quick answer on something, are you available at the drop of the dime? If I need something faxed to a client, vendor are you going to do it? Again if so during what hours?

Compensation - How do I compensate you? By the hour? Am I competiting with All My Children, Ophra, your kids, wife, husband? Do I pay you per item, if so do I enter some my self on slow weeks to save some money?

Finally dependablity - What happens if you decide your tired of doing the work, win the lottery etc. You may have dropped your everything for a family emergancy or medical condition and I could have important documents, bills etc at your house I need for time sensative reasons. If everything was in my office I could handle things if something came up and you were unavailable, but if they are locked in your house my only option is to do without or commit a felony to retrieve them.

I am not saying you wouldnt be Super-Virtual Bookkeeper Person, but these are the reasons and concerns a real business man has about the arrangement.
