What would you think about working for a virtual business?

I am thinking of creating a business that has no office. All the people would work out of their homes and on customer sites. Most communication would be e-mail, web and video. This would be a software company so there isn't any physical manufacturing. Employees are responsible for their own schedules, but goals have to be met to have continued employment. What do you think of this plan? Would you work for this type company? Tell me what you think.

Most major corporations do this already. However, the cost can often be as high or higher than having an actual office. You have to consider that all offices need to be on the same phone switch and file server, which can be costly. There are also additional challenges in ensuring everyone is on the same page and equally trained and motivated. It's an idea that is growing in popularity as the competition to hire and keep qualified workers is intense.

Great idea! PUT INTO ACTION NOW! Dont waste time!

It's been done plenty of times. You definitely save on office space. On the other hand, human nature is just too darned freakin' lazy, so it can be difficult to find employees who will do anything other than "playtest" your products. Good luck, though.
