If you had these skills and this background, what career would you choose?

My work history is in retail management. Have not done well. I've been fired from more jobs than left on good terms. I can't stand retail, but it's been the only thing I know. Clearly, I'm not good at it and I don't enjoy it.

Education...AS in Fashion Merchandising & Design, BS in Business, and an MBA in Business.

I like the thought of working out of the home, so I could stay with my kids. I would like to run my own business. I am passionate about my family. I feel it's wrong for me to work outside the home and leave my kids, but I have to make money. I can clean and organize well. I like helping people better themselves. I like computer work. I have strong office skills. I don't like being outside. I enjoy cooking, cleaning, and teaching. I am interested in virtual assistant work, but it seems too expensive to start. Any thoughts? What would you do with this background? I feel like I'm good at nothing except being a homemaker and that doesn't pay. Help!

There are books at the library that might help you. Look under the subject of careers. If you want to work from home then maybe you should consider something like Avon, Home Interiors, Party Lite, etc. Another option is running a home day care. That would put to use your organizational skills plus cooking and teaching. Check with your county or state on what license you might need to have a home day care. You can sign up to receive payment for the meals you feed the kids too.
