I watch pornography on my computer when I should be working. Can my employer find out? |
I am based at home not in an office. I have and pay for my own internet connection. The company does not pay for the ISP. But I log into company emails and the shared server, through a virtual private network. I always log off from the VPN when I look at porn, although even if I stayed logged in I can't see how I could be tracked that I am also looking at porn via my internet connection. Am I right in thinking that the company cannot know what I am looking at as I am online through my own ISP? If you use your ISP to connect to the VPN and your browser routes traffic via the VPN then they can see what your doing. your good. Yes, and most reputable companies will fire you for this as well they should. Yes he can see it in the picture files that are downloaded by the IE to ensure a fast browser experience. You can delete those files safely. as long as you log off vpn and pay our own isp bills, you should be ok. I would assume that it is illegal to track your history at your own home without your consent Not only can your employer find out, they can track and use this offense as an excuse to fire you. Watch porn at home, keep it out of work. Nope can't can't track your progress from home only if you go thorugh there server can they track your activity Only if he catches you with your trousers down. If you are paying for the PC, the connection and the ISP, then your employer can only ask you to use the system on their behalf if they actually pay for this. They cannot put additional tracer type software on your PC without your permission, and I would strongly advise that, if you are the owner of the equipment then you have the right to refuse such interference with your personal liberty. They probably have no way of discovering what you are looking at, BUT, remember that everything you do on your computer can be traced. Even after formatting a hard drive what you have done on your computer can be discovered. |
