Adding roll over text to a frontpage image, how is this done?

I am trying to make a virtual tour of a local business for school. I have a picture of the whole inside of the building. I have made hotspots around certain items of interest. What i would like to do is when a person puts their mouse over an object, a small text box would appear and have a small bit of info on the object. The user could choose any of the objects in the picture and just roll the mouse over to get a text box explaining it. I have tried everything and am at a dead end. Could someone please tell me how this is done? much appreciated.
