It sounds like you have everything you need; as long as you have sufficient drive space, I don't see any reason to let it sit in the box and gather dust :-)

assuming your computer is already "ready for vista", you might as well install it. i prefer waiting til my computer doesn't work anymore, since i'd have to upgrade just about everything for my computer, plus pay another $200+ for the OS.

I got the information from www.bestbuy.com

You need to go to the Vista site-http://www.microsoft.com/windows/product... And make sure the product you have is 32bit compatible. The 86 in your OS means 32bit.

If the box is unopened, return it to the store and put the money in the bank. Grab Vista (if you still want it) in a year's time. It'll be more secure by then, you'll have more money, and you'll know what you're getting yourself into.

Who knows, in a year's time you may be using Linux! My mom (who's a senior) uses Ubuntu because it's easy, stable and everything she needs is included - Firefox (web browser), Thunderbird (e-mail), Openoffice (office), Gaim (instant messaging)... and she finds she likes not having to reboot the computer all the time!

Take a look, it can't hurt:
