Requirements to be a virtual assistant?

I have a 3 month old son and need to start working, but would like to stay home to raise my son. I am very skilled with computer technology, the internet, microsoft word, excel, powerpoint, ect. and am looking to become a part time virtual assistant. I would like to start small helping with simple tasks. What are the requirements to become a virtual assistant? How do I get started? and what is the average income?

You can start as Graphic Design / DTP, Illustration / Cartoonist, Copy editor/Proofreader,

the most important skill will be marketing...marketing yourself to enough clients to pay your bills, to sell them on your skills, reliability, etc.

Start by contacting business owners or managers you know and ask your friends for referrals. It will be an uphill battle most likely to get started.

Income will depend on your skills....and how well you can sell them.
