Has anyone been asked to accept a virtual private network from this I.P address?

The following I.P address, 80.172.64.70 keeps trying to access my pc via a virtual private network, I googled it and found it was Via Net.Works who are in portugal and have something to do with broadband over there. I am in the UK so I'm a bit puzzled as to why they are trying to access my pc. Has anyone out there let it in and what has happened? Any info will be helpful, thanks.

In NO circumstance should u agree to accept any such request. If u let them they will infect ur computer if they haven't already done so.

Nowadays the hackers r moving away from email (as they know many users have wised up not to open attachments) to using other tricks like links. Many look very genuine. I have just helped someone remove a virus which was infected by an infamous bogus company based with a PO Box addr in Ukraine. The user foolishly paid (when requested) using his debit card, now the scammer has his name/ addr/ bank details not to mention the money scammed. He said "but it looked so genuine".

When u get scammed by a bogus company abroad, u have virtually no way of resolving the situation. u will just get added to their SuckersList, more scams will follow.

If your computer is already infected then you must remove the offender because there might be some spy ware watching your every move. If you don't know how to remove it then do a system recovery after backing up all the files that u want to keep. A good firewall is crucial.

If u r running XP, u might find this article useful to help u set up a safer environment to surf the net.

Someone's trying to hack into your computer. Report the IP to your ISP.

You only grant access to network you recognise,if they don't have anything to do with you make sure you blocked them irrespective of where they are.Hackers are capable of using different Internet protocol address
