Virtual pc question some tech people?

i tried something that microsoft said would support i tried to install virtual pc on window xp home edition i needed it bad on there to do my win2003 server simulation for a certification it worked problem was it screwed up my internet connection where i couldn't get online and if i did it would kick me off plus my isp wasn't give ip address now i am not sure but i think my culprit is a conflict wit tcp/ip i would like to know is there anybody out there that might know around this so i can use virtual pc on this junk o/s?

MS Virtual PC 2004 is the version to use, I use it with XP Home and it appears to work without any issues. The current version MS Virtual PC 2007 appears to crash on Home edition. TCP/IP should not cause any issues to the best of my knowledge. Using it for server sim it can be run without needing external connections, if its run in a stand alone enviroment.

Is this your problem?

SYMPTOMS
When you configure your virtual machine network settings with the Virtual Machine Network Services driver, and then start the virtual machine, the physical computer loses network connectivity, and you may receive the following error message on the virtual machine:
Virtual PC could not open its emulated Ethernet switch driver. Virtual switch networking will be disabled. To fix this problem, re-enable the Virtual PC Emulated Ethernet Switch service or reinstall Virtual PC.

CAUSE
This issue may occur if the Virtual Machine Network Services driver is missing, corrupted, or disabled, or if the associated registry keys are corrupted or missing.

RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, re-install the Virtual Machine Network Services driver on the physical computer. To do so, follow these steps:
1. Close Virtual PC if it is running.
2. Open Control Panel, and then double-click Network Connections.
3. Right-click the network connection, click Properties, and then click Install.
4. Click Service, and then click Add.
5. Click Have Disk, and then click Browse.
6. Locate the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Virtual PC\Utility\VMNetSrv folder, click the VMNetSrv.inf file, and then click Open.
7. Click OK.
8. Restart the computer.

WORKAROUND
To work around this issue and restore network connectivity on the physical computer, remove the Virtual Machine Network Services driver from the network adapter on the physical computer.

Note This workaround only restores network connectivity on the physical computer and does not restore network connectivity on the virtual machine.

To remove the Virtual Machine Network Services driver from the network adapter on the physical computer, open the properties of the network connection on the physical computer, click Virtual Machine Network Services, click Uninstall, and then click Yes.
