What is the working of Oracle RAC? How the fail-over is working? How can I configure it?

As far as I know Oracle RAC is a system which manage databases located in a shared storage using two or more physical systems. I ve installed Oracle RAC 10g on two windows 2003 servers. I ve got two virtual IP addresses also. But the failover is not working.( If one system fails, the virtual ip associated with that system is also failing). Is there any solution for this? Kindly help me..

If you麓re using a crossover cable to connect the nodes, don麓t do that. Use a switch instead!

Failover is confgured on client. There are more than 6 failover types. Here is a link (please skip to the bottom) with exact steps for failover configuration and testing. Please email if this is not clear. Thanks and good luck. Report It
