If my laptop is 192.168.1.101? Wireless connection.? |
And I ping 192.168.1.100 and get a full reply, which freakin device is replying? I know it is not the routers address. Is that the modem IP or is it a thief, or does the virtual internet gateway get it's own IP ? My Friend i think that its just your network pinging you back in reality you should have a ping of less than 5 on your network in a wired network it will be effectively 0 If your computer is the only device you have plugged into the router, and your router is also a wireless device, there will be two live addresses, yours and your "default gateway" which in most residential routers/firewall appliances is 192.168.1.1 if you type in at the CMD prompt "ipconfig" this will tell you what your default gateway actually is. then if there is any other address that is pingable then yes someone is using your wireless connection. I am able to do the same thing that you are, except I have a larger network in my house.. you can secure your wireless down to mac addresses that you want to be able to use it or there is a free download ... Take a look in the wireless router's tables to see which machine is assigned to that IP. |
