Why can't my asp web-pages displayed on my computer?

I've installed IIS on my computer and built a virtual directory. I put an ASP site under this directory.
I enter http://localhost/index.asp or http://127.0.0.1/index.asp in my IE address bar, the page can't be displayed, even no any error message. The URL/file path is correct, i think. Why does this happen?
How can i fix it?
There is a .net framework on my computer too.

Okay by default I think the path is c:\inetpub\wwwroot.
If you've creative a virtual directory called xyz then you'll need to ensure you reference it in your URL.

eg: http://localhost/xyz/index.asp

Also make sure you've got ASP set to Allowed if using IIS6. If using IIS5 you should be fine. Also make sure if the site is set to anonymous security that the local IUSR_ has at least Read Access to the virtual directory's corresponding physical directory (assuming you're using an NTFS volume)

Did you start IIS server?
