Strengthening Security Through Fencing and Additional Infrastructure


-- Secure Fence Act: Authorizes the construction of 700 miles of reinforced fencing along the southwest border. Mandates that the Department of Homeland Security achieve operational control over the entire border through a "virtual fence" that employs cameras, ground sensors, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Provides the necessary authority to border personnel to disable fleeing vehicles.

Providing More Border Patrol Agents

-- Homeland Security Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2007: Provides $2.33 billion in funding for the United States Border Patrol, including funds for 1,200 new border patrol agents, to support a workforce of 13,580 agents. Also provides $2.65 billion for Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE), including funding for an additional 1,212 ICE agents and officers, for a total of 11,500.

Providing Stricter Enforcement

-- Fairness in Immigration Litigation Act: Ends outdated injunctions that prevent the effective enforcement of immigration laws and has led to "catch and release" policies. Gangs, such as MS-13, have exploited these loopholes, and many criminal aliens have been released onto our streets.

-- Alien Gang Removal Act: Prohibits alien gang members from entering the U.S. and allows for detention and deportation of alien gang members already within the country.

Why not just enact a 5 year prison sentence(no parole) and a $250,000 fine for anyone who is caught employing ILLEGAL ALIENS??? It would be cheaper.... wouldn't it?

Why not put ARMED Troops on the border with Mexico, with orders to do what ever is necessary to put a stop to the ILLEGAL ALIEN INVASION???

Why aren't the ILLEGAL ALIENS being aggressively sought out and DEPORTED???

Why aren't the present laws being enforced???

Why does Congress need to make new laws???

Congress is very good at dragging things out until the populace grows tired of the fight.... but this time appears to be different, America has awakened and is ready to FIGHT the CORRUPTION in MEXICO and WASHINGTON DC.

Very interesting, Dar. Thank you very much for again bringing us the latest on the immigration issue! I agree with "seeing clearly," above in that the government needs to get serious about strictly and severely penalizing employers of illegals, to the point that it REALLY hurts the employers and takes away their incentive to hire illegals. I think it wouldn't be long before employers would stop hiring them and that would save a lot of effort by INS for deporting as I think many of them would leave on their own if they couldn't get work. Also, the steep fines could also help towards the costs of deportation and costs of other measures such as the fence. Looks real good, though!

It's a step in the right direction...but there is still lots more work to be done to get America back on track.

We must not become complacent. It would be easy now to think that we are on a winning roll..we cannot let up for a minute.

and begin a program for massive deportation.

If we can build the NAFTA Highway, if we can build thousands of miles of interstate highways, if we can sent a space probe into the galaxy, if we can put a man on the moon....

then we can deport illegals.
