Really embarrassing situation! Pls advice?

OK, here is what happenned. I am new to the company I work for, I joined in 3 months ago approx. Last week my team was moved to a different location from our client office and we had to use remote access to access our client systems.
Some of the new hires did not have our own IDs. Since we could not do any work without these IDs we (myself included) got some temporary Ids of some other people working in this company to use. I was told that this person(Whose ID i was being given) is not using hers nowadays.
Just two days ago, i was trying to debug an issue while i was remotely logged in using other person's ID. It so happenned that the system prompted me to change my password. I did a really stupid thing I changed the password!! without informing the person whose ID i was using.
I was kind of stressed out trying to solve a complex issue which was bugging me like crazy, i dont know how and why i could have done such a stupid thing.

Now after all this happenned i apologized to that person whose id i was using, also
apologized to my manager and everything. But my boss still seems to be very angry on me.
She told about this to everyone and bought this up in the meeting which was so
embarrassing to me.

If anyone has any advice on how to handle this situation i would highly
appreciate it :)

Actually,,you have no fault here at all..Your company was ill prepared to absorb the new hires,,and since they weren't prepared,,created the bad business environment..You all should have had proper badges to work with..The fact you changed the pass word,,was a matter of expediency,,and diligence to complete the task at hand.. Although you might have brought the matter to your manager at the time,,Your intention was to complete the task..Your manager realizes there is a problem,,and you didn't create it,, you just exposed it.. Your company will never succeed with short cut,,bad business practices.. She brought it up in meeting,,strictly to present it as what it is,,you just happened to be the one who exposed it.. Your manager should be taking steps to correct the problem,,and not carrying on about it..I also don't think what you did could be considered 'stupid'!! Don't be embarrassed,,and in the future,,try to not push on when a problem comes up,,immediately call your manager,,and let them make the decision.. After all that's what they get paid for !!! Try 1. changeing the password back to the original one and pretending nothin happened or 2. tell the person who the ID belongs to that you changed the password when the notice came up and tell them what the new password is. Hopefully they will be nice and forgive you.

Just explain the situation and change the password back. Make sure that your apology was heard and be more careful next time.
