Why do liberals complain about Bushs expansion in governement?

Yet not once have we heard which programs they will role back.

Today Obama and Clinton both promise to reverse Bush鈥檚 tax cuts for wealthier taxpayers, but the Democratic budget they鈥檒l be voting for would allow income tax rates to go up on individuals making as little as $31,850 and couples earning $63,700 or more

Tax the wealthy 鈥?as defined by 1908 levels? Obama and Clinton want to raise taxes on the working class in order to fund their proposed expansions of annual federal spending, $287 billion and $212 billion respectively.
Then you had last night Dingy Reid, claiming that the Founding Fathers would weep at the loss of the mechanism that allows legislators to sell Congress to the highest bidders:
鈥淎s we look back in history, the Founding Fathers would be cringing to hear people talking about eliminating earmarks,鈥?Reid said, noting that the Founders dictated in the Constitution that all spending should originate in Congress, not the executive branch.
Ah, yes. I鈥檓 sure Reid believes that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin would all wail and gnash their teeth at the loss of Reid鈥檚 ability to send $750,000 to the Community College of Southern Nevada for Internet-based courses. That鈥檚 why they created the three-branch federal system of government 鈥?so that Reid could suck up to home-state voters by siphoning federal funds for a community college.
And today he is delaying a vote on a pork moratorium to attempt to hide the results. Harry Reid wants to ensure that the press has gone to sleep when the DeMint amendment comes to the floor:
鈥淪enate Republicans complained Thursday that a high-profile vote on a temporary earmark ban would be pushed back until late in the night, limiting press coverage and possibly preventing presidential candidates from voting on the measure.
According to the office of Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), Republicans asked Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to schedule the vote earlier in the day so that their presumptive nominee, Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), could cast a vote before returning to the campaign trail. But Reid declined, saying the vote wouldn鈥檛 occur until around midnight Thursday, if not later, according to DeMint aides.
鈥淭he porkers are throwing the kitchen sink at the earmark ban, using every trick to stop it,鈥?said Wesley Denton, a spokesman for DeMint. 鈥淭he white-knuckled grip on their pork would be funny if it weren鈥檛 so pathetic. Americans won鈥檛 be fooled.鈥濃€?br>
This doesn鈥檛 seem like change to me, you?

Obviously, there are frauds in the Democratic party. However, Bush promised smaller government but is now two-faced since it is so much larger now.
Plus, he insists his spying plans which is definitely not a popular big government strategy as it is unjust to immunize phone companies who violate privacy rights from being prosecuted.
So Republicans don't have the answers anymore than Democrats do. We just need more people with common sense running our government.

I suppose he is not expanding where their interest are concerned!

Simple because he has not expanded the government in ways they would want!

Sounds like more of the same I have learned to expect from democrats. Ya know, I just realized their only true value is in their consistency.

If we stop blowing all the cash in Iraq it will help, and yes that would be a tremendous change.

well if you don't think taxes will have to be raised in the next few years than your an idiot. What kind of idiot gives tax breaks during war time? Cut taxes for popularity, but increased spending. No wonder he was such an epic failure as a businessman.

The only change you will see from the democrats is that now they won't have to contend with a veto and be able to do "en masse" what they couldn't do with Bush and the Veto pin.

I think we would all like a smaller government, but what my main concern is what are getting as a return on our investment. Under Bush we have invested trillions to get diddly sh!t. A mess in Iraq, recessions, deficits, poor education system, poor health system etc. If we are going to be taxed anyways, and I don't see either candidate stating we wont be - than I want to at least get something back from the money that is ripped out of my paycheck. I don't expect anything miraculous, just something better than what we have now(that's not expecting much).

Are you really asking a question or writing a dam dissertation?

The level of spending isn't going to change, regardless of who makes it to the White House this time around.

The only difference is how they intend on paying for the bloated government.

McCain: Continue running up national debt (which weakens the dollar and causes ALL prices to go up) and roll back Bush's tax cuts.
-or-
Obama/Clinton: Tax increases.

The future is inevitable and we only have an apathetic American public to blame.

sounds like they took a page out of "midnight voting on the patriot act" playbook.

Funny, I never heard you rail on this before....why now?

partisan politics is ruining our government. Stop the lovefest for your party, and love your country instead.

As a 24/7 Liberal I am opposed to big Government and run away spending like we have seen in the last 7 years.

Every day I read about another Bush give-away or another Czar he has appointed.

Yesterday Bush gave Wall St. Banks $200Billion (it did not make the news because the NSA blocked it)

Bush has executed his Iraq War in the worst imaginable way. He could have accomplished the exact same results in one day by dumping old surplus bombs on Iraq. We have hundreds of B52's setting around waiting for something to bomb. In one day of bombing Bush could have change the attitude of the world. From laughing at America to Fearing America.

Ah, another one of those wonderful "Why do liberals...", questions. I consider myself to be a liberal, and I have no idea why "liberals" do anything because people are individuals. Personally, I'd like to see the return of a social safety net. I'm crazy enough to think that the federal government should take some responsibility in ensuring that all U.S. citizens at least have the basics (food, clothing, shelter, education, health care, productive work). I'd also like to see tax hikes on the rich. To me, that means 70% income, capital gains and estate taxes on anyone making over $1,000,000.00 per year. Seems to me that there are way too many Herbert Hoover fans out there (most of them on Y/A), and another Great Depression sounds...depressing.
