How do you deal with a difficult co-worker who seems to hate you?

I have a co-worker in my office who has been going out of her way to snub me. She won't say hi to me in the morning when I say good morning to her.

Today she had an appointment she had to go to. As she left, she said goodbye to people in an office across from hers, walked past me, said goodbye to another co-worker of ours and my boss. She even walked by me again(!) when she forgot something in her office. Nothing.

She is a few years older than me. I find this behaviour rude and inexcusable. Should I confront her? Should I talk to my boss about it instead?

I help this woman out when she has too much work and in the past she has been very kind to me.

My job will be ending in probably 3 months or so (temporary position on a construction site). Should I just suck it up and deal with it? Or talk to her?

Let me know what you would do.

Tiffany, since you were curious, I can honestly say I don't know what's changed about our relationship to make her act this way. It might because I had 2 days off last week since I was sick. It could be that I've been kinder to people in the office I know she doesn't really like.

Either way, my treatment of her has not changed: I am polite to her, and I ask her if she needs help when I have time.

Act like you are completely oblivious to her nonsense. The more obvious she becomes, the more obvious it will be to everyone else that she is acting inappropriately.

As for your hurt feelings and trying to keep up your front of absolute oblivion (there has to be an inkling of disappointment on your part, I'm guessing), picture yourself surrounded by a bubble/shield of light and only the good things she says or does can come through to you.

Suck it up. I dealt with one for 5 years who was jealous because I was the bosses daughter. It's hard, but come-on, 3 months? Why make waves. You may get a better referral for the next job if you just ignore it.

unless she pays your car note or your rent or something get over it and move on you are 2 different type of people who don't connect don't help her any more

Find a new job now, that way when the three months are up, this person may need a job too and land in the same company as you, who will have seniority.

EVERYONE'S NOT GOING TO LIKE YOU , THAT'S LIFE , JUST DONT be CHILDISH ABOUT IT , AND FORGET ABOUT HER. OR YOU COULD JUST KILL HER WITH KINDNESS LIKE A GROWN UP

As pathetic as her behavior is, sadly just let it go. If she wants to be rude and not say hello or good bye that is her business. And trust me, other see that she is snubbing you, and that you are being civil with her. Since the jobis temporary I say the best revenge is living well. Do your job the best you can, be extra nice to everyone, still say good morning to her, and let her see that her childish behavior has not affected you in the least.

The only thing that worries me is that you said she used to be kind. That means her opinion towards you changed. If you have any insight into why that may give you ground to talk out your problem, resolve and have a real peaceable work relationship.

Just ignore it, it's her problem not yours. You're there to work, you're no there to make friends.

well if I were you I would speak to her and ask if I did something to upset her. it sounds like you are concerned about it so get to the bottom of it it may be just a small miss understanding. if you say she use to be nice to you and now she's not some thing must have upset her. people don't usually snub some one for no reason.find out why

You've only got three more months to go, so i would just stick it out.

There are people like that wherever you go, sadly.

I wouldn't let it get you down, rise above it.

If she hasn't got the good manners to speak to you after all the help you've given her, then don't offer to give her anymore help.

She can't have it both ways.
