Renewing tax disc...?

Okay so i had to renew my tax on my car as it runs out today, however when I searched for my insurance certificate it could not be found! I realised I hadnt been sent one as I had an old temporary cover note however that had expired, so the post office couldnt accept it. I called my insurers who are sending out a certificate but obviously wont arrive in time. I called DVLA and paid for my tax over the phone and they will send out a tax disc in 3 working days, but the one on my car will be out of date as from tomorrow. Do you think this is still ok? as DVLA should have record that I paid today over the phone? Thanks

you will be ok, if you get stopped the police will place your car registration number into their computer and will know within seconds that you have paid

Contact the DVLA again and ask them to send it via First Class Delivery. This will probably cost extra, but there is no way around it.

I can't see why it wouldn't be okay. If it's paid for by DD. Surely the worst that can happen is you get a producer and have to visit the PS with the document once it arrives.

It'll be fine. Put a wee note on your windscreen saying tax disk in post. If police run a check, they'll be told everything in order.

Incidentally, if you buy your tax disc online, DVLA check their system for valid insurance/MOT, and you don't need to produce records.

If you have paid DVLA and they have taken the money, then you have paid the road tax. Technically you do have to display a tax disc, but if you are stopped for this it would be strange as the police woudl see that you have insurance and tax on their computer check, as it is all in linked databases. I never display the tax disc on my motorbike as it falls off, and no-one seems to care. I have been followed by the police a few times but they have not stopped me presumably because they can see I am all legal.

Hi there as far as i know you will be ok for a few days if you havent got your tax disc yet just in case if are not to sure i would ring the insurance or tax office and get them to give you a letter just if its a case you get stopped by the police. My mum has done it once or twice and she was ok.

no i would wait till you get the tax disc first cos you will get a fine if caught without one
