Can i ask assylum in UK ? i'm 65 month over stay?

i'm a sri lankan national.i came to UK 2002 and my visa run out after six month. now i'm 5 years in this country and overstay.i do have bad situation back home,,,i didn't ask for assylum that time i feared UK gov,,will deport me,,but now got caught by police went through immigration office they let me out temporary stay.its been over one year now and i'm worried they will make arrangement to send me back.what should i do to stay in this country,,??can i ask for assylum ??
i got a friend who is willing to sponcer me and give me accomadation.what are the chances i stand?

i did work for first two years of my stay in this country.then i started a small buisness (buy and sell).i'm nearly making a 1K amonth.only thing i'm not paying tax.i dont need any financial help.just to make my self legally stay in this country and work.

You may be detained, although its unlikely as they dont seem to make any attemtp to sort out the genuine cases from the ones that are not genuine.

You will have to be able to prove where you have been since entering the country.

How to claim asylum
This page explains how and where you can claim asylum in the United Kingdom.

You must be in the United Kingdom in order to apply for asylum here.

You must make your application in person and you should do this as soon as possible after arriving in the United Kingdom. If you delay your application for asylum, it may affect your ability to prove your reasons for it.

Applying at the point of entry
We recommend that you make your application for asylum as you enter the Untied Kingdom.

You can do this at the port or airport by telling the immigration officer at passport control that you wish to claim asylum. The immigration officer will know what needs to be done after you make your application and he/she will help you start the asylum process.

Applying within the United Kingdom
If you wish to claim asylum and are already in the United Kingdom, you can make your application at our asylum screening unit either at Croydon (south of London) or in Liverpool.

By making your application at one of the screening units, you will have started the asylum process

Nobody seems to get sent home from this country - unless they are sick and really need our help that is. Join the rest of them and bleed us dry with benefit claims etc, the British government seem to bend over backwards for people like you, whereas myself and my husband have worked all our lives and contributed thousands, and when my husband was out of work for a short time he got 拢50 a week cos i was working fulltime.

Forget funding the nhs,schools etc.

no, under UN law you should claim asylum in the 1st safe country... Work it out - how many safe countries between Sri Lanka and the UK? Yes loads - go there and claim...

No you can not, if your case was truly a asylum case then you would have declared it at time of entry not five years after when your visa ran out and you had ran out of options.

of course you can but why bother sell the big issue beg in the streets shop lift mugging there are numerous trades for illegals tear up your passport we won,t be able to send you back if we don't know where you came from. don't be any different from the other millions living here!

if you are , as i suspect, a Tamil wouldn't it be more appropriate to claim asylum with you Hindu co-religionists in India. They have more room than us and really you are more their responsibility?

pay your taxes scumbag. i think you have probably logged into the wrong forum for any sympathy or advice. you may think that as you are working and not claiming benefits you are doing no harm. but youre still a burden to our system and an unnecessary one. 拢1000 a month represents a low wage so your'e obviously unskilled. we have enough of our own unskilled people without taking on the rest of the worlds problems. i have no dramas with anyone wanting to settle here provided they work hard, PAY THEIR TAXES and abide by the laws that you showed contempt for by not going home when your visa expired. as for asylum, if it was a genuine claim you would have made it when you first arrived here not now as some final desperate act to wriggle out of getting on the boat home. i just hope our immigration people boot you out though i doubt it. im not a racist or a nasty person im just sick of my country being a soft touch for you and your kind. you have no divine right to be here, it has to be earned in ways that judging by your pathetic appeals, you have no concept of whatsoever. go home.
