Is there a way to remove the temporary filling material from a tooth after you have applied it?

My husband has a toothache and has an appointment with his dentist on Tuesday. His dentist recommended using the temporary filling until he could get into the office. However, his pain has increased significantly since placing the temporary filling material and he feels like it would be better if this was removed, so he could more effectively use the orajel etc.

Oh my! If he thinks he has pain with that temp filling in, it will be much, much worse if he exposes that root to the air. Ora-gel or nothing else will help enough, and he will be exposing himself to a much higher chance of infection. He may already have an infection in the tooth, and may need antibiotics. He should call the dental office tomorrow and see if they want him to go to an Urgent Care setting.

I would just us a toothpick and floss. You dont want to us anything that isnt clean or that is sharp.

I dont think so...b/c when i had a temp in they had to use a drill to get mine off...oh and if they offer to do a root canal its your choice but for me i would say no b/c i had one done the 28 of november and to this day when i eat it still hurts when i bite down on hard foods, i would just get it pulled.
