Can I Get Temporary Pregnancy Medicaid???

I filled out an application at the medicaid office for Pregnancy Medicaid on Wednesday, 5/2/07. Can i get a temporary Medicaid Card while waiting for my card in the mail so i can go ahead and make doctor apointments???

I went before I was on Medicaid and my local Dr. office required a $250 deposit and once I was officially accepted on Medicaid it was retroactive and covered all the pregnancy bills, and the Dr. office credit me back my money.

Yes they should send you a temp one in the mail before you get your real one.

If you know you will get approved, you can see a doctor now, and then they will rebill everything to medicaid once you recieve your information.

It depends on how fast the case worker is and probably the state that you're in but make your appointments NOW, and when you do get your card and the bills give the hospital your new insurance info because it may be a month before you even get the card.

Yes you should of got a temp card when you were at the office they should of gave you one. cause i got one when they were looking at my application and all my information. Then they sent me letter saying i was aproved and i would get my card in the mail. I would call back at the office.

Yes, you should be able to go to an local office in your area to get a temporary Medicaid card. But when your pregnant they process your case faster so expect your card fast anyway.

I dont know how it works for you but here in TX, you have to have the card that they send you and then a monthly paper (they call it a paper card) in order to see the dr, you do not need the card, just the monthly paper that they send you to see a dr...... at least thats how it is here.

And if you are waiting on the paper in the mail then you can call and set an appt with your doctor and then you have to go to the medicaid office and request a temporary medicaid card from them, and they will give you one as long as you have been approved, the catch is, your temorary card that they give you when you are there is only good for the date specified on it. So you tell them when your drs appt is and they give you the paper card for that date and that date only. Be prepared to have your drs information too, because they ask for the name, address and telephone number of your dr.

Hope this helps! Congrats on the little one!

if you were approved just get ur medicaid number from the medicaid office but it might be to soon to know if ur approved just wait 1-2 weeks and make an appointment then
