Temporary Agencies? |
I like to know if a temp agency would be helpful in searching for a job. I am planning on reentering the job market after 5 years of staying at home. Will the agency help evaluate my skills and help me update my resume. A friend suggested Office Team and Kelly Services. Any advice will be helpful.. Thanks Placement and temporary agencies are always helpful in a career search but should not be your only avenue of attack. It depends somewhat on your skills and interests, but if you have been out of the market for a while, temp agencies would be a great way to get back into it. Also if one position shouldn't work out they can help place you in another, often fairly quickly. Alternatively should you do really well at a placement there is always the opportunity for a temp-to-perm hire. They are very good resources and some will test you so you know what your skill level is. Be aware though, they are working for the employer and not you, so sign up with several agencies to better your chances of getting a job. Try Randstad, if they're in your area ... I was in this same predicament after having my children and entering the work-force again. Temporary agencies are great resume builder, and you gain some skills on the assignments they place you on. The only disadvantage that I have with them is lack of medical insurance, and if the job really likes you, they have to pay tons of money to buy out your contract. It's worth a try and I've heard nothing but good things about both of those agenices. Another good one, that I worked for was Today's Office Staffing. I received my position I have now, because of the assignments the temporary agency found for me. So good luck! It depends on what you did before you became a stay at home mom. If you worked in an office before and been there for one year, then they will help you.OfficeTeam found me the position I am currently working at now. I turned permanent last month. So, that is the best. Also, try others if you have to. Register around 3 and continue searching on your own when not working. You have to bring in a resume before registering and they will test you to see if they have anything that their clients want in a temp. Good luck. |
