My husband injured his foot at a temporary labor job....? |
He has been sittign in tremendous pain at the office waiting on "corporate" to call teh office back to see which doctors they can send him to. I have a ride on the way so I can go to the office and get him. If I take him to the ER without waiting wouldn't they in the end, since they are not doing anything but makign him wait still have to pay it? Aren;t they supposed to have all fo that information right in the office? I'm tempted to threaten a lawsuit for him sitting there in pain for so long with them just waiting!!! What are my options? yes it's called workmens comp go ahead and take him to the e.r. they will have to pay for the bill After 5 hours I gave up and took him to the ER, they STILL did not have the proper paperwork, had given him a handful of their own accident report copies and said that is ALL they had. Report It talk to an attorney in the field of workers comp.ya shouldnt have to pay . He will be covered by workman's compensation and they have no right to tell him what doctor he can or cannot see. They can not dispute emergency room visits. Take him to one right away. First thing is first, relax and don't get too upset. The job your husband has should offer worker's compensation (it's illegal not to). Yes I agree, they should have all medical information in the office, not at corporate level. If the situation is an emergency, or your husband is in severe pain, you are more than welcome to take him to the emergency room. You may have to pay initially, but worker's compensation will reimburse that. You and your husband should not have to pay for any lost time or medical bills. Worker's compensation is a confusing thing, it's dynamic so many people that get on worker's comp are either mad or scared. You mentioned it's a temporary labor job.....do you mean he is a temp. employee with just them? Or has he been hired through some sort of agency? That could be why he is waiting to hear from corporate. If he is a contract employee, the job he is working at now may be trying to contact his actual employer for the info. Please don't threaten to sue, I work in worker's comp. and have been for 5 years, there is no reason to sue on your part yet and it can cost a lot of money. Worker's comp. is a tough process, and from what I deal with, everyone has to deal with the same stuff, such as waiting to be seen by a doctor, waiting to get benefits from the insurance company and having to deal with your employer if anything in that person's work status changes, such as not beung able to return to work for a while, or getting modified duties. Right now your options are to get your husband and take him to whatever industrial clinic his employer may offer him to go to. Sorry, but if you take him to your own personal physician, you will either have to be liable for it, or will have to change physicians. Not every doctor will treat worker's comp. and if the insurance company does not deal with whoever you guys decide to treat with, then you can be on your own. Worker's compensation covers everything to medical bills, time off and mileage. So please do not get upset, give everyone a chance to do their part and your husband will be fine. |
