Should I switch jobs?

I am am assistant to a dean of a business school. All the scheduling and rescheduling drives me nuts, and my work load continually grows. But- we are gettting new cubicals in a few months that are supposed to be nice. And the temporary office I'm in is really nice, but I'll only be here for 3 months during the remodel. I hated this job soooo much a month ago- and I think I like it better now because we're in a lull.
I was offered a new job as a receptionist of sorts making the same amount of money with less stressful responsibilities. But in this job I'll have to be at work at 8 instead of 8:15am. And this one has room for advancement.
Someone give me a push or some advice?

Same amount of money, less stress, opportunities for advancement, AND you hated your old job?

Go for it!

Stay, grow with the challenges and move up. The grass is rarely greener on the other side of the fence

Your first decision is whether you want a "JOB" or a "CAREER".

If you want a job, then take the other position. Less stress could be nice, or it could be boring...

If you want a career, then stay where there is advancement (at least, that's how I read your statement).

OMG! You'd stay just for new cubicles and 15 minutes?!!!!
Having room for advancement in the current position means nothing if you burn out or go crazy before the opportunity arises.
Go with the other one. There will be more chances to advance either there or somewhere else.

I would think the job with a variety of responsibilities would give you better work experience to seek a better advancement either there or elsewhere. A unilateral move to a temporary job can make your work history appear spotty if you do not stay more than 6 months before changing again. Also, if your goal is to move up into higher management, it is better to show you have longer periods of time at a job with duties related to management rather than basic receptionist skills working for other people.

If you are so unhappy, that the stress on your emotional health is hindering either your personal life or your ability to move onward professionally, it may be better to change environments. If you feel you could still advance by taking a receptionist job in the meantime, while you are seeking a better opportunity, that might give you more breathing space so you can focus.

You would have to decide where you would rather be while seeking a higher promotion than either choice you have now.
