Lost passport with overstayed visa in thailand?

If you overstayed your visa and want to 'surrender' to the immigration office, can you do so without your passport? I have a copy of my passport. It was stolen.

I want to clear up the overstay by paying the fine, so that when I report my missing passport to the police they cant try to deport me if they find out I overstayed my visa.

Will the immigration office be able to give me some temporary visa even tho I have overstayed my visa by a couple of months? Long enough for me to atleast get my new passport?

you asked this same question two weeks ago. then I told you to go to the embassy. you need to go there before the Thai police pick you up.

All I know is that you must go to your embassy IMMEDIATELY.
they are the only ones who can help you.

yes, go to your embassy and seek advice there as to what to do.. I would do that before going to Thai officials - or police - good luck..

you should change your ID from Adventure to Taking the P1ss.Contact your embassy for advice they are the only ones who can give you accurate information and may represent you if you face prison

Best to consult your embassy about your lost passport. Your visa-overstay can be settled by a fine at the border immigration. You can exit and re-enter with renewed tourist visa or go to the Immigration office and buy extended visa..

You guys make me laugh, you fall in love with some hooker and think you can get away with anything. I hope they put you in jail and throw away the key. Your kind isn't wanted here.

You are screwed. Do not lie whatever you do. They know when you came it is in the computer. I will copy the link to a recent true story. Please go to your embassy right away. Thailand is not the US they care about their borders adn if you do this wrong you will go to Thai Jail and it will suck more than you can imagine!

You have to contact the police before you contact immigration.

But first you need to report to you embassy to get a temporary passport. To apply for a new permanent passport, you may need a police report, but ask for details at your embassy.

If you don't speak Thai (or can have somebody accompany you), then report the lost/missing passport to the Tourist Police. Get a copy of the report you filed.

Only when you have the papers in order (incl. the police report) do you contact the immigration authorities to report that you have overstayed and the reason why.

If it is the first time, and your story is believable, you will not have any troubles as long as you pay the fine in cash on the spot.
They'll stamp in your (new) passport that you have overstayed and paid the fine. Then you can leave Thailand and return the same day if you want thus getting a new entry stamp.

It is always best to have your papers in order.

Don't fear the Thai police or the immigration authorities. I have always found them to be reasonable people; much more flexible than in the West.
But make sure to bring someone who speaks Thai if you don't. Approaching authorities on this issue using only English may put you in a situation where you are not understood. And it's easier to get Thai people "on your side" if you can chit-chat and joke to get around the potential (legal) obstacles.
