Lost UK Passport 5 Days Before Holiday? |
Okay I'm 17 and I'm suppose to be flying to New York on Thursday with family and I can't seem to find passport anywhere. My mum rang up passport HQ or whatever its called and they said if its been lost you have to wait 7 days for a new one. My mum has rang the 24 hour passport office again and they said you have to wait 7 days, I've told her that some people have been abble to get temp/new ones by going to the office but she isn't having any of it. Yes, you can obtain a replacement passport. Firstly go to, or telephone your local police station to report the loss and they will give you a lost report number. Phone your local passport office to make an appointment. Be sure to take your police lost report number and your airline ticket or some other proof of the date you will be flying. In some instances the passport office will want this because it eliminates people just turning up to obtain a passport rather than apply for one through the post. Don't forget to double check all your documents are correctly filled in and photographs countersigned. yes you can go to the passport office to get a new one. be prepared to spend the day there! there's one in peterborough if your no where near london i think this is possible, call the hq and find out first thing in the morning..good luck.! yes,its possible,i know that they have one in liverpool, good luck and happy holiday:-) Yes, i went with a friend once to Liverpool, there are a few offices around the country. We had to wait about 5 or 6 hours though. So make a day of it and do some shopping. Yes, you can do this, I did this once at the Peterborough Passport Office, but the Head Office is at 70 Petty France, London W1, nearest tube is either Victoria or St James' Park, you need to get there early, 8.30 ish as it opens at nine, or used to, and the queues can be extraordinary. Make sure you have your travel tickets with you and a completed passport form duly signed by the professional who is endorsing your photo, make sure the photos are correctly signed, any professional who has known you more than two years can do this, a doctor, lawyer, accountant, licencee, headteacher, maybe even a teacher, a vicar, a priest that kind of person. If in any doubt, call the helpline for advice. If you turn up with all that stuff and your proof of travel, you should be able to get one then, they gave one for my daughter for one year to give me time to find the other one, I eventually did and they extended her passport for a further nine years. Yes you can, but you must make an appointment. Insist on one asap. Make sure that you report your passport missing or lost to the police, a passport is a valuable document. Have ALL the documentation that you will need already prepared, eg pictures that have been signed confirming your identity, birth certificate ect. You will also pay extra to have your passport issued on the same day, and may find that they will only give you one valid for a year, you can renew at no later charge just before it expires. If you are in London check the address as they are no longer based in Petty France, they are still in the Victoria area though.Good luck , enjoy your holiday. Info from the Passport Office website: ring the passport office delay your flights etc Yes you can go to your local passport office and collect same day - I have done this - it costs a little more but it is worth it - I only had to wait just under 2 hours it depends how busy they are - if you log on to the passport office site you will find the nearest passport office where you live - there are quite a few of them you do not have to go to London - good luck I thought you needed an appointment to 'fast track' your application, and I thought this was within seven days, I think with security and all that seems most likely, however try and find the nearest passport office to where you live and call then 1st thing in the morning and good luck to you Petty France (a road in London: nothing to do with France) is where they used to issue passports on the day. They're a bit more strict since 9-11 but you should be able to do something about it if you get yourself down there tomorrow morning asap!!! yes any passport office get there early and walk away same day with ur replacement one remember take all your details + money no probs |
