Al Sharpton the hypocrite...again! Shouldn't he be subject to the same scrutiny that Don Imus was? |
In light of the recent Imus scandal, I think it is interesting that the so-called "Reverend" Al Sharpton has made an equally ignorant, offensive and bigotrous comment about Mit Romney's LDS faith. In a recent debate between author/Atheist Christopher Hitchens regarding the existence of God, Mr. Sharpton was quoted as saying, 鈥淎s for the one Mormon running for office, those who really believe in God will defeat him anyway, so don鈥檛 worry, that鈥檚 a temporary situation.鈥? As a practicing Latter-day Saint, I did not find this particularly offensive, as much as completely ignorant and irresponsible on his part. He himself, is doing exactly what he accused Mr. Imus of doing. He then demanded an apology from and the termination of Mr. Imus-- and got both. Should and will members of the Mormon church demand the same? I can tell you no, because the God we believe in, commands us to forgive everyone. Which is apparently something Mr. Sharpton does not believe. (pls no Mormon bashing posts) Sure, but the Rev. doesn't have a show of his own from which he can be removed. Actually, he does have a show. The same one Don Imus went on and issued an apology and was subsequently still blasted by "the Rev". Report It of course we should all be as mean to him as he was to don. he's an *** hole! No, he should receive no more scrutiny. In fact I wish the media would never show him again. He is a racist and a bigoted instigator of racial and spiritual tension. Without racial disharmony he has nothing. He is, if enough people complained his sponsors would pull thier ads and the network would can him. It's the old double standard thing. It's really a shame because the harm Al Sharpton does to black people far out weighs the good he does for them. He reminds me of the pot calling he kettle black. He definately does not practice what he preaches which doesn't make him a good role model for young black people. He's a creep. A racist! if you are so forgiving, why post the question.?? Should be but won't be. It is a violation of PC to criticize him. I think, if Romney investigates the context of the speach fully, and has grounds for taking it as it sounds, then absolutely. Sharpton can't get away with offending a faith. Its a very touchy subject for everyone. I don't share the faith, but if it were mine, I'd be pretty hurt. You sure have a number of questions about this topic. I am not familiar with the man or his context in which it was offered. Why not see what the context was and see what it is all about. |
