Getting out of army reserves enlistment?

I'm enlisted in the Army Reserves and I have changed my mind and I don't want to go through with it. I just felt pressured so I did it. The farthest I have gone was to take a practice ASVAB test on the recruiters laptop and sign some papers at the recruiters office. The only paper that was given to me was a paper saying "Applicant Copy Congratulations A temporary reservation was successfully completed for the following future soldier...I understand that for my reservation to remain valid I must complete all processing not later than YYYYMMDD. I haven't taken the actual ASVAB and I haven't been to MEPS. The recruiter was going to take me to take the ASVAB and put me in a hotel to go to MEPS the next day. Is there any way to get out of this my Ship date for basic training is only three weeks away?

Don't take the ASVAB test, don't go to MEPS, and DON'T TAKE THE OATH - Do you see a pattern here?

Be a man though and tell the recruiter you changed your mind and why. The recruiter WILL BE P1SSED since you have taken up his/her time with the paperwork and talking with you. Make sure you do not want to do this, because if you change your mind and want to enlist at a future date, you will have a black mark on your record.

Just don't go. Don't go to MEPS, don't take another test or anything. The recruiter will tell you you are going to jail and all kinds of crazy crap just ignore him. Until you raise your right hand and take that oath at MEPS, your can still back out of it.

Since you actually done nothing except schedule the ASVAB you are under absolutely no obligation to do anything. Call the recruiter tell you have changed your mind and that is it. You are under no formal obligation at all until you swear in and that cannot happen until after you take the ASVAB and pass it so you are still just a civilian on the street.

You need to check with the recruiter and see EXACTLY what papers you signed. If you signed a contract for enlistment, then you are now in the army reserves. If you fail to show up for the ASVAB testing, then you can be classified as being AWOL.
If you have not signed the enlistment papers yet, then there is still a chance of cancelling the enlistment.
Next time, make up your mind BEFORE signing anything.
