Where can you report bad dentist?

It has taken me over 2 months to get a root canal finished. The dentist was pregnant. I of course could see this but what I didn't know was that she was ready to deliver. She went into labor while she was doing my root canal. I had my tooth stuffed with cotton and given an appointment to come back a month later. Well the cotton had to be replaced 2 times before this. Then comes time for the appointment to finish this procedure. Well it got cancelled by the dentist 15 minutes before the appointment, I was sitting in front of the office when they called.So finally i get back into the dentist to put a temorary cap.The assistant tells me it will take a week before the can put on the permanat then tells me to come back in 3 days. I come back well they cant do it for another week. I go back a week later they take off the temporary cap which is very painful and without anthesure then they say my gums are recieding so they cant finish. Wait another week I go back. And still we dont finish.

The Better Business Bureau in your area. They respond quickly to all cases no matter what business private or even commercial.

That's a good idea. Punish the dentist for daring to get pregnant. That'll show her.

The American Dental Association is probably a good place to check out. Any reputable dentist should be a member!

Pregnancy withstanding, the dentist should have referred you to someone else. AND, you should have know from very near the jump that this wasn't going to work well, though I know hind sight is 20/20.

honestly i doubt theyll do anything though theyre usually pretty lax.

and just to warn you youre probably going to look like a dumbass demanding a woman in labor finishes your root canal before she delivers her baby (but dont get me wrong, id be pissed if i were in your situation too, i just think youre handling it the wrong way and people always side with pregnant women). i think youre better off just cooling it, and negotiating with her office to see if they will pay for another dentits to finish the work for you

Reporting that Dentist isn't the most urgent issue:go to another dentist before your condition gets worse.Then,contact the Dental Association in your area if there's one.Otherwise a lawyer would advise about the situation.

Unless she has done something or lack of something that will cause permanent damage or lifelong suffering I don't think legally you have an issue, if in fact her lack of care did cause damage or and increase in care needed say for repair that is more extensive than should have been if the job would of been done by the standard then you legally can possibly sue her , contact a lawyer for this , you could try and contact the ADA(american dental assoc,)
I would agree that you should at least contact another dentist and let her know you are not pleased with her care of you
I understand she had a baby but that's no excuse for neglecting you and she should have had a colleague on call and ready to cover for her.

I agree, you really have nothing to report on her. She didnt do anything unethical, she caused you inconvenience but that is it. You can report almost anything to the state dental board, but they are made up of other dentists who make the decision as to whether or not you had a valid complaint. In their opinion this would probably just be an example of a patient being inconvenienced. For example, I know a woman who complained on the dentist to the state dental board saying that he was over charging. Their conclusion was that this was not a valid complaint because the patient had the option of going elsewhere. Another lady complained that the dentist would not work on her child if she (the mom) was in the treatment room. This also is not a valid complaint because the dentist has the right to have an office policy that requires the parents to stay in the waiting room. She also had the choice of going elsewhere. Im sorry but in the dental world, I doubt that you will get anywhere with filing a complaint. Just find another dentist and if it will make you feel better getting your frustrations against her out, write her a complaint letter.

You can report the Dentist to the ADA; however, you still need the work done. Get it finished before filing any reports. Maybe you can try calling the Office Manager and express your frustration with the situation. It sounds like they are all struggling with the loss of the doctor on maternity leave. Please try to work it out with them before filing. A few missed appointments and cotton, while annoying, is not worth someone being investigated, is it?
