Leaving a job?

I recently left my full time permanent office job & have decided to go temping for a while through a recruiment agency, until I find somewhere permanent again. Last week, I had my P45 come through from that employer.

The temping job I have at the moment will last for a few months and then hopefully the recruiment agency will find me something else or I may get another temporary assignment through a different agency.

My question is: Now that I have got my P45 frm my previous place, is it best to give it to the agency who has found me this temping job or hang on to it until I get a permanent job & give the P45 to that employer?

If I give the P45 to this agency, what happens if after a months when I am no longer required on this job and end up getting another temping job through another agency? Do I obtain a P45 from this present agency & give it to the new agency? If so, it seems as though my P45 will need to be exchanging hands at least 4 or 5 times in a year!!

why are asking me geez ppl stopasking me qestions! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's better to hang on to it until you find a permanent job

I take it the agency is paying you, rather than the employer for whom you are actually working,so you do need to give them your P45. Whoever pays you needs that form to tax you properly, so if you change agencies you'll get another P45 and need to hand that in to the new one.

Without a P45 any employer has to apply the emergency tax code.

If the agency don't your P45 just hold onto it until you get a permanent job.

Agree with Colin M's answer - and if you find yourself temping through more than one agency at once, the 'second' agency providing work will just ask you to fill in a form saying you haven't got a P45 and (again as Colin M says) tax you on emergency rate.

By the way, agencies are well used to this problem and should be happy to help if you are still confused.
