About maternity leave medical coverage? |
Hi! I'm 20 weeks along now. I work in a law office which provides me with fully paid benefits and all i have to pay for are the co-pays. No when i go out on maternity leave in about 4-5 months, my own personal coverage is about $389 per month until I return back to work and i haven't yet found out what the insurance coverage costs for the new baby. Does anyone have any suggestions, as that will be quite a lot for me to pay plus a new baby's costs. Would i be eligible for temporary medicaid, just until i return back to work, so as to not have to pay so much in coverage? Anyone? If your paying $389.00 a month for just you. They will use your income from the month before...... and if you drop your insuance they can refuse you. They might pay the premium for you if your income is low enough..... That is something you would have to ask them...... Uhmmmm, wait, now you got me thinking. My office also provides me with fully paid benefits (like you, all I pay are co-pays), but I haven't really discussed what will happen when I go on maternity leave. Is it customary for the woman on maternity leave to assume the costs of her healthcare (and her baby') until she returns to work??? Isn't your workplace supposed to keep paying for that??? |
