Would you consider hiring a 57 yr old healthy female that has 32 yrs factory experience? Have worked as temporary supervisor , inspector, packer, press operator, shipping & recieving clerk, maintaince dept.,machine assembly and machine operator. I also have some office experience,accounts recieveable & payable, customer service. Have an excellent work record. I retired early to keep my benefits. I want to return to work but am afraid no one would hire me because of my age. I know they can't discriminate ( yeah right). Can anyone give me some helpful advice . Also do they give you a test these days? Crazy to even think about working again.. Guess I really like to work, the money helps too ! lol. Thanks all. To be very honest ( I do feel bad saying this) even with your excellent work record and several years of experience it will be more difficult for you to re-enter the work force. It's not right at all but alot of companies (for what every reason) would rather hire some one younger with less experience. But that is not the case with all companies. The thing with age discrimination is the company would of course deny it they would just say something like " we had more qualified applicants" (yeah right It's a bunch of hooey I know) Some companies give test it just depends. You can find work it's just going to be more difficult. Have you thought about opening your own business? What ever you decide to do good luck. go to k- mart they will hire you in shipping receiving |
