Why should I as an American vote for Obama?

FAITH is not believing God can. It is KNOWING that God will.

In a message dated 1/13/2007 1:09:40 P.M. Central Standard Time, EQuashenci writes:

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black Muslim from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white atheist from Wichita, Kansas. Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii.

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a radical Muslim from Indonesia. When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a Muslim school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, "He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school."

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's education. Lolo Soetoro, the second husband of Obama's mother, Ann Dunham, introduced his stepson to Islam. Osama was enrolled in a Wahabi school in Jakarta. Wahabism is the radical teaching that is followed by the Muslim terrorists who are now waging Jihad against the western world.

Since it is politically expedient to be a Christian when seeking major public office in the United States, Barack Hussein Obama has joined the United Church of Christ in an attempt to downplay his Muslim background.

Let us all remain alert concerning Obama's expected presidential candidacy.

unelectable.

Personally I don't care what his religion is, I wouldn't vote for him in any event.

I don't know if I will vote for Obama or not. But, I don't care to read misinformation about any candidate on any side of the political spectrum.

CNN sent reporters to the supposed radical school Barak Obama attended, and found it to be not radical at all. The school was not even strictly Muslim; it also taught Christian, Buddhist, and Confucian students. You can watch a video of the school at the link below.

You have to check your conscious and conviction but not what people think!! Good luck!!

Where are you going with this? What's your point? Are you implying that there's something inherently wrong with being Muslim? If so you should just come right out and own your opinions, however ignorant and unfounded they happen to be.

Although Mr. Obama talks a good line of sh It. He isn't going to be elected to any higher office than the one he currently holds. America isn't about to elect someone who is clearly a very devious individual.

If the democrats have any intelligence at all, they will elect Hillary Clinton as our Next President of the United States.

Amen, bro! Obama is a nice guy and charismatic man but his allegiances will ALWAYS lie with Islam. He will not fight them and they will take every opportunity to forward extremist Islam.

Vote Republican!

Do you also have similar views on Dubya's Nazi-sympathizing and banker-for-Nazis granddaddy and he was elected deh decider... er, President (via two rigged elections)? Just a question that I'd like a serious reply to, that' all. I'd say that it's "the same difference" here since no one seems to mind... or that Arny da Governator's daddy was a Nazi (yeah, swastika-wearing, goose-stomping and all). Any thoughts on that, since you seem like such a super-patriot?

You've fallen victim to innuendos, smears, rumors and gossip. And you're promoting the mistaken and erroneous notion that one's religion determines one's character, honesty, integrity, intelligence or competence; there are MILLIONS of very decent, law-abiding Muslims who are outraged and embarrassed by the terrorists (like the Christians supposedly feel by the pedophile priests, the lying, conniving, dishonest, drug-using, pedophile, adulterers and bigotted tele evangelists, the Crusades, witch-burnings, book burnings, etc).

WHAT exactly is YOUR personal agenda in this matter? An intelligent person would listen to all candidates (even those of the opposing political party) with an open mind and then decide whom to vote for... you don't even know who's running and already you've made up your mind... hardly sounds intelligent to me (or anyone else with common sense). A donkey carrying a load of books is not necessarily an intelligent animal!

I think religion is supposed to be left OUT of politics, people tend to forget that. It seems sad that his religion should even be an issue because that isn't what our country was founded on.

Muslim does not = Terrorist. So it seems that you have no idea what his policies are or what he has in mind for our country, just that he is follows Islam and you won't vote for someone who isn't a Christian.

I hope you aren't a registered voter. Shame on you for messing up our judicial process. You aren't supposed to vote for the other guy just because you don't like a certain candidate. You will be one of those people complaining in 2010 because your candidate is messing up the US even more than it is now.

Let's get this tripe out of the way.
Barack Obama did go to school in Indonesia which was primarily attended by Muslims. It was not a radical school as was portrayed by Insight Magazine, a publication owned by the Washington Times. It is one of the weatlhiest schools in the country and Buddhists as well as Christians attend the school. This was confirmed by CNN. There were no radical teachings taking place there at any point in the schools' existence. He attended school there until he was 10 and moved back to Hawai'i to live with his maternal grandparents. As he said in his book, My Spiritual Journey"
" I was not raised in a religious household. My maternal grandparents, who hailed from Kansas, had been steeped in Baptist and Methodist teachings as children, but religious faith never really took root in their hearts. My mother's own experiences as a bookish, sensitive child growing up in small towns in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas only reinforced this inherited skepticism. Her memories of the Christians who populated her youth were not fond ones. "
He also went on to say
"This isn't to say that she provided me with no religious instruction. In her mind, a working knowledge of the world's great religions was a necessary part of any well-rounded education. In our household the Bible, the Koran, and the Bhagavad Gita sat on the shelf alongside books of Greek and Norse and African mythology. On Easter or Christmas Day my mother might drag me to church, just as she dragged me to the Buddhist temple, the Chinese New Year celebration, the Shinto shrine, and ancient Hawaiian burial sites. But I was made to understand that such religious samplings required no sustained commitment on my part--no introspective exertion or self-flagellation. Religion was an expression of human culture, she would explain, not its wellspring, just one of the many ways--and not necessarily the best way--that man attempted to control the unknowable and understand the deeper truths about our lives."

Maybe if you read his book, you would actually have a better understanding of his religious beliefs. He did not jump on the Christian band wagon upon entering the Senate (either state or US) but had been a member of the church quite some time before. He made his journey to the place where he is comfortable as a Christian but unlike others, he does not wear it on his sleeve to validate his beliefs.

to show the world you are not racist.

When John F. Kennedy was running for President in 1960, many were concerned about his faith- Catholicism! Imagine! A Catholic in the White House! He may consult the Pope on political matters.

We know this did not happen.

I will not make my choice in the voting booth based on a candidate's faith. I will vote based on voting record, where the candidate stands on positions important to me, and if the individual has a good, solid, decent character.

It's a long way until Nov. 2008. Many will enter the race and many will leave. It's too early to get worked up about who is running for office and who isn't.

He is intelligent, a good orator, right on all the important issues, and the only significant candidate who was against invading Iraq back in 2002.
