Is there employment for me? |
I was just recently laid off after working for a temporary agency for about a year. I have excellent computer, data entry, clerical and customer service skills. The problem is that I'm 33 years old and I just enrolled in paramedic school. Medical people don't want me due to lack of experience. Office people don't want me-I'm not "one of them" because I'm going to paramedic school. My classes are Tuesdays and Thursdays, during the day. How should I go about finding employment? What tips do I need? I have no sales experience. Try working from home part time while you're learning the paramedic stuff? There are all kinds of home based businesses online that you can check out and work from home with low start up costs. One that worked for me is www.bedavis1.mywayout.net. You might find that it's right for you while you're in school. You might find something else. Whatever is right for you you'll know it. But that's one thing to look into since temporary agencies really do NOT care if you're in paramedic school and 'learning' on the job and stuff. So you're wasting your time and effort with agencies that refuse to understand it. So, look for something online that you can do from home. No sales experience required either! Try Manpower. I believe they are all over the USA. Sounds like you will have to work part-time. Go to your local unemployment office or look in classifieds. You could also take resumes around to offices that you would like to work at and drop off a resume or application. There are ways to make your resume look like you have more experience than you do. You can do a search on yahoo about resume experiences and they should have some good tips on there. go to a different temp agency and work there until you become certified as a paramedic...once youre an official paramedic ...dont worry the jobs will find you , my wife is in the medical field and there are not enough paramedics to meet the demand. Bide your time until you finish school and and you will be set for a lifetime recession proof career. International NYSE company seeking 1 鈥?2 Have you tried posting a resume at monster.com or careerbuilder.com? If you don't have a resume already created, either one of the websites will help you create a resume. The link for careerbuilder that i provided, will take you straight to the register page. Are you an EMT-Basic (in most states, it's a requirement before going to paramedic school)?. If so, you might be able to find part time work with a local ambulance company. They are usually very accomodating for people attending paramedic school. You usually don't need prior experience, either. You might have to check with a few ambulance companies, though. |
