I am a legal immigrant. How can I get my drivers licence?

I have a legal permit to work in USA. Right now I'm waiting for my visa renewal, but due to the changes of office location from Texas to Vermont, the papers are processing very late. I currently live in Florida and the DMV in here does not allow me to have a temporary drivers licence until my visa decision. So I can't drive to work because of this..Can you please suggest me a state where I can go and get a drivers licence for a non-US citizen (pending)? Thank you

If you have a valid social security number under your work permit, a number of states will.

just go to a dmv, you will take 2 tests i think, a written one and the one where you actually drive, if u pass, u get your license!

Ride public transportation to work or just drive without your license.

If you can find make your way to California, they will give you a drivers license. They give them to everyone. I don't know where else though.

I think you need a DL for the state you live in. What country are you from? some DL's you are allowed to drive on for up to one year after entering the US.

If you are legal all Western States will let you get a drivers license. I am sorry you are going through this problem. Especially since you are doing it the legal way they should be quicker about it.

do you have a social security number? usually you definitely need a ss# to get the license. In NY, in addition to ss#, you would need stuff like bank card, current utility bill, valid passport, major credit cards, etc.....to get enough points.
