Job Hunting tips?

I have been looking online as well as in the paper and I have registered at several temporary agencies and still I have turned up nothing solid. I live in Indy area and I am looking for something office related or light assembly work. Any ideas or tips would be greatly apperciated.

Step #1 - Objectively review your resume.
I highly recommend the book "Make Your Resume Talk" by Richard A. Hart (link below). Best $14.00 I ever spent. It has really helped me to get more 'hits' on my resume when employers were searching for potential employees.

Step #2 - Register with the major job advertisers.
(jobster.com, monster.com, careerbuilder.com etc...).

Step #3 - When you get interviews and such, make sure you follow up. Give them a business card! Send a "thank you" e-mail to your interviewer etc...

You need a skill that makes you stand out, either for the jobs you mention, or so that you are qualified for some other job for which there is a smaller pool of applicants.
