Job offer low; what else can I ask for?

Suppose you got a job offer (for an office job) and the pay was low. You negotiated and they met you a little less than half way. You still don't like it, but it's just business so that is their offer.

This job comes with no benefits, none. It's an hourly rate and 40 hours a week, a temporary gig, that might turn full-time but who knows. Certain things are okay about the job, but really you're not excited about it---and not just because of the money.

If the job has no "benefits" in the HR sense of the word, what other things can you ask for to make up for the mediocrity? You can't ask for more vacation days, since you don't get any. A better job title is not applicable. You could ask to work from home sometimes but are not sure if there's a real reason to (there is hardly a commute).

You believe you'll immediately start to look for another job as soon as you start working there. Is it even worth it to ask for these perks, if you can think of any?

Don't even bother. Think of it as income until you get your ideal job.

My husband was in this same position last summer. Temp work is really for the birds. Odds are 90% they won't take you on full time.
If there are no benefits to begin with, then, you're right, you can't ask to up them. And if you had to negotiate for a lousy pay, it will be pulling teeth to get anything more.
If you can afford to keep looking, then turn them down and keep looking. If you take the job and keep looking on the side, it will slow down the process considerably. If you need the job right now, take it and keep looking.
