Does anyone on here work as a Rural Carrier Associate for the post office in Georgia?

I have an interview next week as a rural mail carrier associate(temporary on call) in Georgia (near Atlanta) I was really interested in this job when I tested but it has been a year since then and I now have a job I love. But since I only work 10 hours(20 per hour) a week at my current job I am still considering taking the job.
does anyone know about how many hours would be realistic for this job? Is there any flexibility in when I take my lunch hour or how long a break I would be allowed to have? Are you happy with your job? I could use just about any feedback about this job that would help me in deciding if it is worth giving up a job I am happy with for the chance of more money.

An RCA doesn't have a set schedule, usually. They cover routes when the regular drivers are off on vacation or sick, so they might not even do the same route every time. Sometimes the RCA will always cover for the same driver or drivers on the regular carrier(s) days off. You'll probably have to work up to that schedule. Starting off, you'd probably only work 1-3 days per week.

If you want a full-time position with the post office as a rural carrier, you'll have to be an RCA first.

If you get the position, you'll probably be expected to get to the station at about 5 or 6 AM, when you'll sort or case the mail for the route into the order of delivery. You'll then band the mail, put it into the trays, and possibly take your lunch at about 9 AM before you even leave the office. You'll get 1/2 an hour for lunch. You might have lunch when you're on the route, it all depends on how much mail you have to deliver that day, and how fast you get it cased so that you can leave the office.

It might be possible that you can do both your current job and the RCA position. Go to the interview, and discuss what exactly the job description would be for the office where you are interviewing. Ask them about the hours, and then, if you get offered the job, decide what you want to do.

If you think you might want to be a full-time rural carrier, I believe you have to be an RCA first.
