Help me make a serious decision please?

I am faced with a very serious decision tomorrow morning.

To give you some back ground on this I have to explain a few things.

I am the manager of a large warehouse with the main office in another city. The owner decides how many people I can call in to work. He never comes there and leaves it all to me.

Today I had a crew of three people available to me to unload 2 containers of 40 ft each. The containers did not arrive until 3.30 pm, he insisted they should both be unloaded. The guys arrived early as per the owners instructions and I kept them busy until the containers arrived. Once they realized the monumental task ahead of them they informed me they would not be unloading any more merchandise. I tried to get other temporary help but to no avail.

The owner than threatened them with "If you don't unload them today none of you will have a job tomorrow" They walked out.

Tomorrow I am planning on quitting this job. I have been there 2 years and the job just gets worse.

Whenever someone quitts because they are facing the same circumstances they call the Police and suggest something came up missing. It leaves me depressed, sleepless, and constantly on edge.

I love what I do, I just cannot deal with the circumstances every day.

Wow, I have to say, that sucks. Did the owner threaten to take away YOUR job as well?? That's not really fair. Is there any way that you can request a private meeting with him and discuss this, and maybe try to work out something? It's not your fault that your workers wouldn't do their work. Can you explain these things to him? I would first try to work it out with the owner, but if he's unmoved, then I guess I might consider quitting, too. Do you have other options? Do you have a family? If so, can you stick it out a little longer, to make sure you guys are supported, until you find a better job? I know what it's like to have your job screw you over; my husband deals with stuff like that (not that extreme though) at his job quite often. He ended up getting a second job b/c Home Depot couldn't make up its mind whether they wanted him full-time or whether they "simply couldn't afford it", even though he is by their own admission, one of their most valued employees. Corporate sucks. Anyway I hope everything works out. I'm sorry you're having to go thru this. God bless!

do wat u gotta do

yes quit!

Is your question whether or not you should quit?

If so, based on the information you provided, yes you should as the owner seems to have unrealistic expectations. However, If you are generally happy with your job, except for this one sole incident occuring of course, then I would talk to the owner and explain the situation. If the resolution and his reaction is still unsatisfactory, then quit.

honey follow ur heart. you answered ur own ?.

If your serious on leaving then your making the right decision but maybe it would be better for yourself to try and find a job first before you leave. You don't want to be without work if you can help it and it really is easier to find a job when your in one. Good luck whatever you deside.

Seeing as you asked no question, I can't give an answer. BUT...when you're miserable, it's time to move on.

Dude, suck it up. If the owner fires the guys that bailed on you then so be it. It is his company, he can do with it as he see fit.

If things are really that bad then spend some time and go find another job. You can keep this one until another, better job comes your way.

Better quit than ending up a fall guy
