How to connect a seperate answering machine-telephone to a fax machine so a caller can choose fax or voice mes

fax machine has two telephone jacks in the back (line) and (ext) and was made in 1996 (Betacom).

just adjust the sets of rings....on the answer-machine!!! like 2 rings....let the machine answer...but after 4 rings set to the fax -mode!

you also can use a free virtual number for the fax machine....

set the fax to fax/tel most fax machines can determine if the call is a fax or voice call...

connect the dial tone (phone jack) to line, and the answering device to ext.

if you find that the fax is answering even for voice calls, then you are going to need to get yourself a fax switch...
connect the fax switch to the phone jack, then to the fax and answering device, the fax switch will determine if the call is voice or fax, and send the call only to the appropriate device...
