Can't set answering machine to retrieve messages.5.8 with two telephones.?

have a v-tech telephone/answering machine with 2 telephones.Our electric was off for awhile and the phone will not retrieve messages. Have lost book . I need some help.

Answering machines usually don't retrieve messages without electricity. If your electricity is back on, then turn on the machine and wait a while. If it still doesn't work, then you'll have to contact the manufacturer to ask them what's wrong.
