Need to know how to change the # of rings before my answering machine picks up on an AT&T model 1810 telephone

Phone rings 4 times before machine picks up, less if messages have already been left. Can't find the manual

would you like me to email you the manaul? i can tell you waht page to read too... email me: haynesd@charter.net

I'll just type it out...:

Ring Select (toll saver
Se the RINGS switch under the access cover to select the number of time the phone rings before the system answers.
-Set to 2 if you want the system to answer all calls on teh second ring
-set to 4 if you want the systemt o answer all calls on the fourth ring
-set to ts (toll saver) if you want the system to answer on the second ring when the system has new messages but on the fourth ring when the system has no messages

Use toll saver if you will be calling from another location to check for messages

Suppose that toll saver is selcted and you call long distance or from a pay phone to check your messages. If the system has recieved new messages since the last time you checked yoru messages, the system answers after 2 rings. if you hear a thrid ring, you know the system has no new messages. if you hang up after the third ring, you can avoid paying for the call.

If it hasn't been answered yet, then check the side of your phone there is a little button to slide. I "think" I have the same phone, not sure if its the same model or not but I had the same problem.

it only lets you do four or toll saver, thats it; oh it also lets you do 'answer off', no other otpions on this puppy. i LOVE that machine, if you ever want to get rid of it email me.
