Telephone help required?

Ok so my mum runs her own business from home, she has telephone in office, with answering machine, when she is at her desk she takes the calls and everything is fine, when she is away from desk the answering machine takes the call and she gets back to them...
The problem that she wants to solve is, when the call is on answer phone you llose some business when you call back customer as they already have it sorted or what not.
Most of the time this is because my mum is busy doing something else in house or garden, making dinner, ironing clothes etc... So she wants to know if she can wear something in house and around the house and answer the calls that are coming to the phone, and so she can just say to customer, hi, or whatever she says, can you just hold one second will I get back to my desk, and from there she can continue the conversation pull open her system and she has not put anyone on answer phone..

Was sort of system can she use, whats it called, where can you buy,

there is something like that at radioshack you put something on a cell phone and apply it to your telephone when you have calls to your house it automatically goes to your cell phone. go to radioshack and tell them this they should know what your talking about.

Just buy a cordless phone.

Cordless phones. Loads of them on the market. Argos does some really cheap ones. BT do them in their stores. Most electrical retailers have them. Recharge when they're on their cradles and batteries last for hours.

She can just buy a cordless phone and keep it in her pocket as some have suggested, have her business phone forwarded to her cell phone, or do something that we used to do in a similar situation. We had a very loud answering machine (kept it set on very loud) and had the message say something like "you have reached AF's telephone assistant please hold for one moment while I page and see if AF is avaiable anywhere in the building. If AF is not available you'll hear a beep and can leave a message. We always left a message or 2 on there so there was a slight pause before the beep. When the person started to leave a message we could hear who it was and pick up if we needed to. This did a couple of things. If we were in the midst of something or not close to the phone or had a mouth full of dinner it gave us a minuit to get into professional mode and get to the phone. If we were on the other line (we had 2 separate lines not call waiting) it let us finish up the first call or at least get it to a point where we could ask if they could hold just one moment while we put the other call on hold and of course it let us screen the call and see if it was an important business call or someone wanting to chat or sell us the daily paper. Then we could decide if we wanted to take the call or let the answering machine get it. If portable phones sometimes called roam phones are available where you are a combination of that and a loud answering machine with a message saying it is paging her not just taking a message would be ideal because she can then hear who is calling and decide whether to click in with the portable phone. She may be able to do much the same thing with caller ID on a portable phone if she knows the numbers of most of her customers.

A wireless phone w/a head set!!

I just copied the below from internet, it may help your Mum.

"BT promised callers the "best of both worlds" today by launching a service allowing it to switch between landline and mobile networks on a single phone.
The telecoms giant said its BT Fusion phone would work like a mobile outside and automatically switch to a broadband line once users entered their home.
It said the product - part of its Bluephone project - would combine the convenience and features of a mobile with fixed-line prices.
Ian Livingstone, chief executive of BT Retail, said: "We know that many of our customers enjoy the convenience of their mobile phones when they're out and about, but switch to using a landline phone when they arrive back home to save money or because they have little or no mobile coverage."
A special access point installed in the home, called the BT Hub, will switch the handset to a broadband line using Bluetooth wireless technology. Customers will receive a single bill for all calls."

Just type in your search bar 'landline and mobiles'

some phone companies offer a service called something like "find-me" or "locate me" it will cycle thru numbers that you have set up... 1st it would ring the home/business phone, then a cell, then another number, untill one of the lines is picked up...

she can set up call foward-no-answer, when no one answers the phone it is fowarded to her cell phone,

she can get a cordless phone, and if shes busy, she can get one with a headset, so she can answer the phone and talk hands free..

There are phones available that have second (and more) handsets which she can carry with her up to 1/4 mile away and will also take messages. Mine even has a voice activated head set which answers when I say hello.

go to the b/t shop online and get a phone which has two handsets. and carry one with her in her pocket eh.

Simplest way is to get a cordless phone set. You can get some suitable ones from the BT on line shop or any decent place like John Lewis.

You need one with at least two handsets: one for the base-station that lives in the office and the other that she can carry around on her person.
