How can i get a grant without giving my telephone number out?

i am looking for a grant that doesnt have to have a telephone number to get it. i recently tried for a grant and had people i could not underdstand call me and when i asked them questions they couldnt answer me, plus i want my telephone number to be private, i dont want these people having my telephone number because they call and call and call me bugging me when i want to be left alone. all i want to do is get the grant with out being bugged or giving out my checking account. thats the other thing that bothers me how do it know if they are truely from the government if they dont even speak the language?

Get a cell phone with an answering service; tell them to leave their number. Don't ever give ANYONE your checking account number unless YOU call THEM and KNOW who you're calling! Legitimate grants will work with your financial aid office, and will deposit any monies you receive to a student account; they will NOT need your checking account.

There are a ton of scholarship websites out there (most government backed), which give you online applications to fill out. Fastweb.com is a good one, for example.

Good luck with the grants :-)

They are NOT from the government because the US government never calls people to tell them they've got grants. I hope that you did not give out any personal and financial information

You may also want to read the warnings FTC has issued against these "grant" companies:

http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer...

Here is also one of the warnings issued by the Better Business Bureau http://www.concord.bbb.org/tips_timeshar...

If you want grants for school, check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/

You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant
http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachme...

Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.p... at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for women of your age

Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.htm... , you may want to explore private foundation grants

Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com

For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.
