My father is hard of hearing and has trouble understanding telephone messages?

I was wondering if there were answering machine devices that come with a closed caption option that translates spoken speech into written speech? Is there such a thing for telephone on the telephone also? What products are a good buy?

Slightly deaf for those who do not understand what hard of hearing means.

There are 2 products that have been around for years, both would help your father. 1) is a TTY which the hearing impaired have been using for as long as I can rember. It gives the impaired person the ability to read and type text messages.2) If his hearing hasn't gone fully there are phone with amplifiers to increase the sound of the callers voice. Since you said prices are a concern for your father, from the sites I ran across, the link below has the lowest prices. This site has both TTY and Amplified phone receivers.

LOL Helps it I put the link on here

Call your phone company.....

There is a solution and a very good one.

Get ahold of the Neurophone from Patrick Flanagan. That is a small black electronics box that has two wires coming out with transducers attached to them. These are attached to the skin on the body. It can be on the legs or on the skull, arms etc. Audio from any audio source like a phone or CD player or radio etc. can be plugged into the box via a standard 3.5mm stereo plug the same the small headphones use like for a portable CD player.

Even completely deaf persons can hear crystal clear audio like voice and music. The way it is perceived is spacial inside the head. That box also provides pink or white noise for meditative purposes if desired. There is a little switch on there to select internal/external input. The price for it was about US$ 450 to 500 as far as I know. We have two of those to work with our big scalar healing devices. I tell you, although I am not deaf - they work.... because I tried them!

I suggest you google the Patrick Flanagan website to read up on it. I just did - there are plenty of sites describing the Neurophone.

Addendum: What can I say there - gota..... I thought you are a bit more open-minded and don't cause judgment about something you know nothing about. Check it out first and then make up your mind. I just tried to help.
