Why cant telephone sales callers take 'no' for an answer?

I ve had several phone calls today promoting a mobile phone, i say no and they still try to sell it to me, they say the phones 'free' but i dont care beacuse the contract is not. They still cant get the hint. and even threated them with abusive language. why cant they leave me alone.

Just say no, and hang up. Doesn't matter if they're still talking. They have forfeited the right to common courtesy (i.e. not hanging up on them) by not taking no for an answer.

I would suggest filing a complain to that company's management.

after the third no they are supposed to end the call. tell them to put you on the no-call list and if they ever call again, ask for the supervisor or the name of the company they work for and report to the fcc. you could always screen your calls or just hang up.

welll its their job to make the calls, and they are told to keep trying, even when you say no. so they get that you said no, but they are told to keep trying. so yeah, its annoying. you could just hang up on them. which is rude, but hey so are they. or just say something like "i know youre just doing your job, but im really not interested. sorry." and then hang up.

Tell them to take your number off their computers

Because most telemarketers have a daily quota to meet. Plus they get paid a bonus if they make the sale.

The first two gave you good advice which is what I do.

Selling you stuff is how they make money. It's annoying for me too, but I know they're just trying to make a living like me.

they are required to give rebuttals.. if they dont' and their boss is listening they can get fired.. just hang up on them..

If you're in the UK remind them it is illegal to harrass you. I always ask them where they get my number from first and a lot of them just hang up after that :-)

if they are phoning your mobile i simply say ''can i have you personal number please so i can phone you when i like?'' when they say no say ''so what gives you the right to phone me on my personal number?!'' usually does the trick, if not just hang up as soon as you realise its a sales person

Handling of objections, is part of the selling process,so he sees it as something bound to happen. They are trained on how to handle objections, you know.

it's probably because they have to ... I worked at a telemarking place for 1 week, I quite, because they scam people out of their money, they make all the wording really confusing, and even if the caller says no they didn't want anything extra only what they were calling to order, we still had to continue talking, clients were listening and if we didn't read it word for word we were bound to get fired. I hated doing that to people, and lot of people would say yet to the so called "extra free stuff" not realzing it was a free trail only and they would have to call and cancel or they credit card would be billed, mainly older people that got sucker into it, I always felt so bad, thats why I only lasted their for a week!

Never order stuff of tv, and if you do... do buy anything extra, most stuff you order, is going to continue being shipped to you month after month and charged to your credit card. Like cd's, makeup... it's not just a one time order that you may think it is!

they are greedy money sucking ******* they make money off you signing the contract so they try hard to get you to go to accept the offer.
