How do search the for the name or company of a telephone number, using only the number..?

i am getting calls from a telephone number but no one is there when i answer. When i try to call back it says that it cannot connect at this time. How do i find out who this is? thanks

i normally use DA PLUS ( i think that its .com) it has a reverse number look up system. try it it works for me most of the time.

For a general Reverse Lookup, you can use a number of different sites. I prefer http://www.anywho.com/, which is/was operated by AT&T. I have also found that some numbers do not show up in a Reverse Lookup, but have been listed on sites where people are complaining about telemarketers or collection firms. I usually track these down through Google or other similar search engine. The best format to use when searching by phone number on Google is to use XXX-XXX-XXXX.
