Is it possible to find out a corresponding name and address on any website by entering a telephone number?

I know that the telephone directory works the opposite to this in that I have to supply a name to get a telephone number and address.

But if I was to tell you someone phoned me on my mobile from a Manchester number recently, would any website be able to tell me the name and address of the person/company who called me as I'd like to know who it is before I call them back in case it is a wrong number.

Hope someone can tell me the answer to my query soon.

Many Thanks.

No.

Data protection act 1998 (as ammended) blocks such information from being given out. This is for many reasons, more so, to protect the safety of ones personal details.

So answers no.

Unless a crime has been commited, then police can track the number and get details but wil lnot give you them.

Some paysites offer this reverse look up service.I have doubts about how successful they would be.

Sorry cant help although It is a really good question...Star for you!

Yes, try these websites:

www.whitepages.com/reverse_phone
www.reversephonedirectory.com

This is known as a reverse telephone directory or reverse lookup, which is unavailable and sometimes illegal in certain countries.

it is called DATA PROTECTION ACT and it is not legal for anyone to give such information out to the public, only the Police and various other government branches are exempt from such restrictions

whitepages.com Reverse Telephone..

I don't know about a web site but I often use the latest UK Info Disk, available from the site below.

This allows reverse number search, Electoral roll search and will even tell you the details of the people at the address and their neighbours.

Enter the number in google - it has a reverse directory built in it. If it has a record for that number, it will show up at the top.

If you received a call with no message left, maybe it was a telemarketing or a junk call. Try http://800notes.com/ - a database of unlisted numbers supplied by the users who received spam calls from those numbers.

Sometimes you can type it into a search engine and it will tell you who it belongs to. That's what I have done in the past.
