Election fans telephone to ask votes, is this an telephone abuse? Can I complain to CAB?

In election days, many people or companies make a phone call to me asking to vote to their candidates. They leave their messages on my answering machine. Can I use it as a proof to file a complaint to the Citizens Abuse Bureau?

I cannot tell what country you live in. If it is the US then no. It is not a violation of any 'do not call' laws.

Did really think that the politicians writing the law would hamper their efforts at vote getting?

Here in the United Kingdom, some political parties ask those who do telephone canvassing to dial their call barring number first. This means that when the people dials back to find out who called them, the number is withheld. If you feel that you are getting too many calls, I would suggest that you phone the local, regional and national headquarters of the party in question and ask them to leave you alone. If you are in the UK, this constitutes a formal request to be taken off their lists. If you are still getting calls, then contact the Telephone Preference Service.
