Do I really need microfilters on all devices when installing DSL? |
I recently received installer for DSL. It says I need to install microfilters on all my devices such as telephones, answering machines, satelitte systems, etc. However, they did not send me enough. I need 4 more. What if there is a phone connected to a line PAST the computer? Where do I put the filter? Can I purchase the 4 I need from somewhere else? This is all new to me. Thanks to anyone who can help me. Lisa - finally burned the t-shirt in the bbq? If you leave the modem on while talking on the phone or using any other device that uses the phone line then yes. You will end up with computer noise or static on that line that does not have the filter. You put a microfilter on everyhting except the DSL modem. If you have a "dialup" modem for faxing, you put a filter there too. Radioshack sells them. yes!!!!!!! otherwise will get static and they will not work right... <-------- finally burned the t-shirt in the bbq yes ..or you would get noise on your phone calls Yes you need them on ALL devices that occupy the same phone line. Check on Ebay for more filters. If you're online through that computer right now, then no, you're good. I know I need all my phones filtered to access the internet. |
