Anyone recommend a good and cheap telephone with facility to record calls as they're received?

I do not mean an answering machine. Want to record conversation as it happens. Landline only

the uniden tru8885 series has an answerphone.
During the call you can go to the menu and select "record call"
I think it beeps every 20 seconds or so to reminds both parties that it's being recorded.
The recording will end up with the incoming messages.
I find it very handy when someone wants to give me an address or phone number and i don't have a pen, i can record it and play it later when i have a pen.

This is only legal if the other party is aware the call is being recorded, which is why when you call a call centre they say "calls may be recorded and used for training purposes". If however you satisfy the law it is possible to get a voice activated dictaphone and plug that into a 2 way adapter using a special cable to record a call.

It's a very dodgy area with regards to privacy though and one that can land you in very hot water.

It's not a very good idea as you can end up in quite a bit of trouble over recording calls. Why would you want to record calls anyway?
